The team at Masala Hospitality Group is proud to continue the story of the Queen Anne Victorian structure. Each chapter of the buildings' history has added to its charm and we at Masala Hospitality Group are excited for its next chapter.
Quick Facts
The birth of the building was in 1899 as Captain W. "Diver" Johnston collaborated with his business partner (William H. Virden) to build a beautiful new house for himself and his wife, Isabella. Want to learn more about the adventures of Captain Johnston, check out his history in the Cape Gazette.
Over the next 100 years, the Victorian structure built in the style of English architect Eastlake - served as a home for many families including longtime Lewes, Mayor Otis Smith.
